SC amends rules on law student practice. The Supreme Court (SC) conducted the Regional Roll-out and Training Workshop for Central and Eastern Visayas on the Revised Law Student Practice Rule. SC Associate Justice Alexander Gesmondo chairperson of the Oversight Committee on the implementation of the Rule, said that the law was amended because law students would be able to develop their skills and to be socially aware when they become lawyers. On the other hand, Joan Largo dean, of USC Law and president of the Philippine Association of Law Schools said that the implementation of the rule 138-A will take effect in 2020 -2021 in all law schools nationwide. Largo added that this Rule is a requirement for all the law schools without the need for accreditation and this student law practice will be part of the curriculum and a mandatory requirement for a law student to have rendered law practice before taking the Bar Examinations.

Hotels asked to lower rates for local tourists. The Department of Tourism in Central Visayas said it is now working with hotel operators in Cebu to lower room rates in an attempt to trigger interest of the local market to take vacation within the province. According to tourism undersecretary Arturo Boncato Jr. hotels and resorts in Cebu agreed to slash rates in order to boost domestic bookings. Buscato met with key tourism stakeholders in Cebu, together with tourism officers in 40 towns and cities within the province to start of programs which drum up local spending in tourism. Hotels and resorts are encouraged to offer attractive and much affordable prices in order to draw interest from the domestic market.

Archdiocese of Cebu official has proposed to create a Church-based group that will investigate the plight of the victims and alleged perpetrators of human trafficking in the country, when they learned about the sexual abuse and torture of the kids allegedly by an Australian pedophile and his Filipina girlfriend who was arrested in Malapascua Island, Daanbantayan in north Cebu.
