Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is relationship between the types of fishing gear used by the small-scale fishermen and their monthly income. Such fishing gears inculde gill net, fish pot, hook and line, set long line, multiple handline, fish net, spear, beach seine, fish corral, spear with compressor, and push net.
This study adopts the null hypothesis that there is no significant relationship between the types of fishing gear and the monthly income of small-scale fishermen.
This study is focused on the profile of the types of fishing gear, cost per unit and the quantity of the fishing gear.
Also included in this study were the problems of the fishermen and the relationship between the types of fishing gear and the fishermen’s monthly income derived from fishing.
The research instrument used was an interview schedule which is not a standardized instrument.
