The purpose of this study is to validate the elementary algebra textbooks which are presently used in public and private schools. The validation is based on the RBEC’s desired learning competencies and DepEd Book Evaluation Standards.
This descriptive study made use of the validation of elementary algebra textbooks utilizing the DepEd’s evaluation standards for textbooks. The validation of the textbooks was carried out through the analysis of its learning competencies based on the DepEd and the evaluation standards for textbook. The evaluation standards has five componentes: the subject matter content in which it focused on the accurates of information and its sufficiency development of each topic; readability is more in its vocabulary level and the smooth flow of ideas and activities; appropriateness of material deal on its integration of positive values and the use of various types of teaching and learning strategies to meet individual differences; instructional design is on the presentation of the topics covered and the arrangement of lessons; and book design and characteristics of diagram presentation which dealt on the lay out and typographical organization of the material. Each of these components is composed of six to seven questions which were numerically rated by each validator.
