Abstract
This study analyzed the verb usage in the written compositions of the selected students in Lutac National High School, City of Naga, Cebu, School Year 2016-2017. The findings served as bases for proposed remedial measures.
This study used the written essays of the students to find the identified variations on verb usage of the students’ writings in terms of person, number, voice, mood, aspect and tense and also the dominant variations of verb usage in the students’ essays.
The results of this study revealed that students have difficulty in using the correct tense, person, and number of verb when writing. The findings of this study served as bases for a proposed remedial measure that is helpful in the improvement of students’ performance in school most especially in English.
This study concluded that students committed variations in verb usage when writing. Thus it should be given attention to solve the problem.
