Abstract

This study aimed to explore the lived experiences of surrenderees of Oplan Tokhang "Tok-tok Hangyo"- knock and plead in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. Specifically, sought answers to the following specific problems: the experiences of the informants as surrenderees and how the Oplan Tokhang affect the lives of gthe surrenderees.
Utilized ws the phenomenological and qualitative approach in this study employing methods as interviews as key process in data gathering. They were ten selected surrenderees, four of them had been interviewed individually and the remaining six are the members of the Focused Group Discussion (FGD). It is a conceptual convenience sampling were they chosen from list given by the barangay officials and most of them are introduced because they are more cooperative than other surrenderees. The study locale is in the City of Tagbilaran and focused on the identified barangays namely: Poblacion III, Cabawan and Tip-tip. I used an Interview Guide aided with the voice recorder for the basis of transcribing the response of the informants. Utilized the colaizzi's method a phenomenological analysis procedure in analyzing the responses of the informant during the conduct of interview.
For the experiences of the informants as surrenderees themes created were Guidance for Self-change, Action Towards Transformation, Happy Pathway to Security and Reasonable Fear. For the impact Oplan Tokhang to the lives of the surrenderees the created themes are Personal Life Development, Strengthen Family Bond, Economically Progress and Physically Develop.
It suggested that there must have a refine process and proper validation of subjects to the program, law or ordinance must be formulated for legal basis and proper implementation, provide rehabilitation center/facility for formal reformation process, and provide additional activities like skills training and livelihood program in order to help the surrenderees in generating income.
