Abstract
The study determined the effectiveness of visual cues as writing prompts in the classroom, University of Cebu-Main Campus, S.Y. 2017-2018. The findings were used as the basis of proposed action plan. It answered the following sub problems: the pretest performances of the control and experimental groups; the osttest performances of the control and experimental groups; the significant difference between the pretest performances of the control and experimental groups; the significant difference between pretest and posttest performances of the control and experimental groups; and the significant difference between posttest performances of the control and experimental groups. An actionplan was proposed.
The study was conducted at the University of cebu- Main Campus. This study used the quasi-experimental design. Photograph from Ian Lloyd’s Spirit of Asia, a National Geographic publication was used as visual cue for the main hypothesis.
Students who see, think, and wonder respond more effectively in writing personal essays. Visual prompts provide a very effective cognitive tool for a rich mediated learning experience and enhance student’s communicative skills development.
