Abstract
-
This study aimed to determine the work values, skills and attitude of nursing graduates of two colleges of nursing who are currently employed in three tertiary hospitals in Cebu in the perspective of their employers as represented by their immediate supervisors. The study utilized a researcher modified questionnaire that consisted of four parts to identify the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, years of service and job position, their work values, work skills, and work attitudes. The profile of the respondents was correlated to their work values, skills and attitude. The study used a descriptive-correlational design. Percentage and frequency, weighted mean, Chi square test of independence and Cramer's V were used as statistical treatments of data. The findings revealed that most of the subjects were 20-30 years old, female, had been working in the hospital for 2-5 years and were staff nurses. It was found that the subjects always exhibit work values, work skills and work attitude which indicates that they are very competent in those traits. The study further revealed that the subjects profile does not have significant correlation to work values, skills and attitudes. Further studies need to be done to identify specific areas in work values skills and attitudes that can be influenced by demographics as well as on the perspective of the nurses themselves.
